I think everybody can do their part for total defence even us children. We can help in total defence by knowing what to do in the case of an emergency because if we do not know what to do during an emergency we would be lost. In other words there will be a very high chance of death, a life and death matter. Also we can help in total defence by learning what happened in the past and making sure it never happens again. Since this is all in the social studies textbook, we just need to read the textbook and understand it well to help in total defence. ITS EASY!
Total Defence does not only invovles adults,but children and senior citizens must play their part too! If we are in an emergency, we must learn how to use fire equipments properly.An example is the fire extinguisher. If we do not know how to use fire extingishers properly, we have a high possibility to lose our life! We must beware of terrorists and strangers because they might be people who wants to invade a country! I agree with Clement, we must also read our Social Studies Textbook and learn about the past!
I totally agree that we should support the Total defence group. We children will be in deep trouble if we did not support the Total defence.Example:Chidren playing with fire in the void deck,it may cause lots of live to be lost if there is a crowd there.Total defence help us alot as it can help us to extinguish the fire and if there is some country coming to invade Singapore the total defence will help us to lead the way to the underground shelter!Our textbook will help us to know more about Singapore.It is our resposibility to help Singapore to become a better place.If you read the textbook you may also find some other interesting information about Raffles the founder of singapore.Reading the texbook is easy it is only a few minutes!Try it!
I think we can help in total defence too.we can help put out fires and learn the different locations of the bomb shelters so that in an emergency we will know where to go without help,we can also be able to show people the way to the nearest bomb shelters.we can help look out for suspicious looking people as they may be dangerous people.We must learn how to use fire extinguishers properly so we can help put out fires,we must also learn what to do in different emergencys,for example,we will immediatly go the the nearest bomb shelters when we hear the siren.Also,we have to learn the history of singapore by reading our social studies textbook so as to understand what things that past singaporeans had to go through and not take things for granted.

I remembered clearly about sweet potato was given out during the last Total Defence Day in 2007.Oh No!!!....the sweet potato was horrible to eat!! Do you all agree? Maybe I was the only one who disliked the sweet potato. Can you imagine during the War World 2, people only had this for their 3 meals?? I really don't want this cruel event to happen on us! Therefore, WORLD PEACE is important as it will bring the whole world united and everyone will be able to live in this peaceful & beautiful world. Let's do our part to make this world a better place for all.
I agree that all adults, children and senior citizens should play a part in Total Defence as we cannot depend on heroes like firemen, policemen, and soldiers and many more. We should do our part by providing the necessary information to the proper uniform personnel in order for them to assist during times of emergency.Personally, I consider firemen as my real hero. Why! Because whenever a building is on fire or about to collapse, everyone runs out of the building but they went in despite of the danger posed. Although it is their duty, I still consider such act of courage as heroic. The policemen maintain law and order during crisis while the army provide us a sense of security and peace of mind against alien forces while we work and play and get on with our daily lives. I have learned some of these during our social studies classes and also partly from television advertisement.Who knows that one day we may have to do our part taking on their responsibilities.
I think it is important for children to senior citizens to know that 15 Feb is total denfence day!It is important that the defences help us when something really happened.So, on this day we are going into food rationing(biscuit and water)in school.But I think that we should eat sweet potatoes to have the 'feeling' of the people at war.If you dont understand about the WAR WORLD 2 you can always look in the Social Studies(ss).

I think everybody have to take part in Total Defence as it is our country and we have to protect it in any way we can.Even for kids as young as us can do our part to defend Singapore.We can take part in the IPP(in-place protection)at schools.We should always make friends with people even from other races so if people are in trouble we can help them.That is all i have to say about Total Defence...
